The first Jazz standard in Dan's saxophone beginner's course. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy was written by Joe Zawinul in 1966. Joe was the keyboard player in Cannonball Adderley's Quintet.

Cannonball Adderley is one of my personal favourite sax players and a saxophone player that you should definitely be aware of if you want to play Jazz. He had amazing technical knowledge pioneered a few effects such as the "Adderley Trill" which I'll also cover in a later video.

The song is in 4 sections and uses notes from low D to C with the octave key.

If I get enough requests to make it worthwhile; I'll do a version for tenor sax!

This is the first song in Dan Christian's free beginner's saxophone course and uses techniques and notes taught in other videos, do go check them out if you're stuck/confused and feel free to post comments/ask questions related to this video below :-)
