Lessons

I teach Saxophones, Clarinet and Piano. I teach all styles of playing from classical to jazz to pop music.

I believe that lessons are a vital part of a players development from the word go.  From experience I find that people who are “self taught” have many habits that are restricting their overall ability.  Be it a fingering issue, not using your wrists on the piano, an embouchure error for wind instruments or a lack of musicality when playing.

A structured routine of tuition and continuing development will help you get the best from your instrument and make performing and practice a more enjoyable experience.  Old habits die hard, with a good standard of tuition you should never have to waste time by correcting them.  I teach from my studio in Barlborough, Chesterfield but I am willing to travel to your home for a slightly increased fee to subsidise missed teaching time and petrol costs.

I run specially designed programs for both younger and older adults and I’m very much of the school of thought that “personalised” tuition is the best form.  If you are wanting to take up a new instrument or go for your Grade 8 on Sax/Piano or Clarinet please contact me to book a lesson or have a chat about taking up an instrument and what it may involve.

I am also happy to act as a consultant.  I will happily try out a new Sax/Clarinet or go try out a Piano for you to make sure it is suitable for your needs.
